A first-hand look at life inside our multilingual home.
What does it really look like to raise children across multiple languages and cultures?
Not the polished version. Not just the milestones, the perfectly multilingual moments, or the success stories.
The real version.
The Multilingual Home Diaries is where I share the everyday experiences of our family as we navigate multiple languages, cultures, school, identity, family life and all the unexpected moments that come with raising multilingual children.
Sometimes the story will be from my perspective as a parent.
Sometimes it will be through something one of my children says or experiences.
Sometimes it will be a little win that makes me incredibly proud.
Sometimes it will be a challenge that leaves me wondering what on earth I’m supposed to do next.
There will be language mix-ups, frustrations, funny moments, school struggles, unexpected successes, questions about identity, moments of connection, and plenty of times when I simply don’t have the answer.
These are the experiences that have shaped our multilingual family over the years—the things I’ve learned, the things I’m still figuring out, and the moments that have made me stop and think about what it really means to raise children between languages and cultures.
I’ve always believed that there is value in showing the journey, not just talking about the destination.
So that’s what these diaries are.
A little window into our real life.
No perfect multilingual family.
No perfect language strategy.
Just our experiences, as they happen, shared honestly in the hope that you might recognize a little of your own family in them.
And perhaps, sometimes, feel a little less alone.
